Susan was born in Calgary but has lived in Edmonton all of her adult life. Enjoying a career in healthcare management, she has always loved the graphic arts and, as part of a family of art colllectors and talented artists, has followed Canadian artists with great interest. Inspired by her sister Gail Carscallen's talent and the gift of her brushes afer her death in 2008, Susan began her own artistic journey and exploration of painting, and impressionistic glass mosaics.
Pursuing her Visual Arts Certificate from UofA and taking advantage of courses, artist retreats and adventures, Susan is keen to further explore the world and expressing herself in art in her retirement.
